About Roots
Roots is a community based organization working at the grass root level. It was registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 on 12nd February, 2010 by a group of social workers having several years of practical experience in the field of Rural Development. This society was formed with the objective of promoting community development through participatory approach.
Vision And Mission
In the last 20 years with the state increasingly withdrawing from its social welfare commitments, the need for individuals/groups in all manner of social welfare activities has enormously expanded. Thus, we need to understand our social responsibilities because we are social animals. In true sense, everyone is a social worker because to begin with, we work for our own welfare and that of our families. In fact, this forms a chain which joins not only ourselves and our families but also our state, nation and the whole world. To summarize, an individual's performance can create the same kind of impact on the world as is created by the “Butterfly effect” on the giant ecosystem.
Roots aims to organize Dalits women and weaker sections of society for social change through participatory approach. Roots is committed to educational development Poverty Elimination, Ecclogical Balance growth of self reliance among people and empowerment of rural folk.
OBJECTIVE
The major objectives of the society are :-
-To start education centres, groups, libraries, orphanages and residential schools for illiterate male or female babies and dalits.
-To promote and support income generating activities to provide alternative employment opportunities to poor and needy women.
-To promote social justice among weaker sections of the society through legal education and legal action as educative and preventive programme.
-To establish health centres in public health sectors to afford health cover for others babies and to start to appropriate programme relating to public health.
-To organize camps, seminars, educational training and cultural programme with a view to spread public awareness and to develop and publish study material.
-To work for Social change, social equity, gender justice, self-reliance and community participation, Establishing participatory, gender justice, self-reliance and community participation .
Our Soul
We all are social workers..!! We just need to understand our social responsibilities.
People Behind Roots
Roots is managed by a Board which comprises of individuals from diverse backgrounds and expertise. The body is formed for a period of one year and a few independent members with eminence and reputation are nominated each year.

Mr. Vishal Gaurav, a Social Worker by profession and he has worked as a Research Assistant on project “Health and socio-economic conditions of elderly in India” initiated by Mr. Manoj K. Pandey( faculty at the Institute of economic growth, University of Delhi), a Project Co-ordinator and Research Associate at Gandhian Institute of Studies, Field Investigator at Centre for the Study of Developing Societies’ (CSDS) Delhi.
Mr. A. R. Mishra, a Teacher by profession and the Principal of Maitreyee School in Varanasi(U.P.).
Mr. S. Nikhra is a manager in IT industry.
Mr. Devender Singh, a cricket coach by profession.
Ms. Devsena Mishra, a faculty member at NIIT.
